Tough break, Sharks fans. You lost to a much more boring team. I'll be looking forward to seeing what your management does in the offseason. Good luck! |

Tough series, Blues were one of the toughest teams for the Sharks to match up against. Might need to shake up the core after coming up unsuccessful again in the post season |

I don't think this was a case of the Sharks playing badly. The Blues have been THE TEAM since around the 40 game mark this season. |

The Sharks are just too slow. Many are on the wrong side of 30 and it's time to dump some salary and some slowness.
Don't be surprised to see Clowe, Marleau, Murray, Boyle or Pavelski leave. Or some combination of the above. I like all those players but the group is not performing at the same level of the faster younger teams.
You can certainly say goodbye to Moore, White and Vandermeer. I loved Winnik and I hope we can sign him.

Also, Niemi can't be relied upon for an entire season to play well. Nittymaki is wasting the minors and we need to play Greiss more. There's also Stalock who finally came back to play this season. |

Cam Gore: Sharks leave it all on the ice – but it still wasn’t enough - CamGore
Wow if that was lying it all on the ice, then I have never seen a playoff hockey game before. 3 Shots in the first 30 minutes is not exactly lying it on the line. The team look uninspired and not even into it even after taking a 1-0 lead.
As for pretenders I will Kick a man when he is down.
Doug Wilson, Todd McLellan and Patrick Marleau are all pretenders. |

Lost to a great team; performing really well and fought well throughout. There's no shame in that. Enjoy the summer and better luck next year! - theavatar
What "Great" team did we lose too? and a great team is defined as how? |

Yeah it really was boring watching all those spectacular saves by Elliott and seeing the Blues put up the most goals and highest PP% in the playoffs outside of the Pitt/Philly series. Granted, not the same kind of thrill that goaltending controversies suspensions and riots bring, but exciting nonetheless.
Your team isn't built for the playoffs. Get over it. |

Maybe this whole first round exit is still raw, but this was a very polite way of bringing the season to a close. I'm not about to say that the Sharks did not try because they are proud NHL players and they all know what it takes to succeed at this level. They were, however, outworked in every aspect of the game. Sure, there were times when they skated with the Blues, but at no point did they outskate or outwork the Blues. The Blues were a very disciplined team all throughout the series, and they turned it on when they needed to. People argue that they are a boring team to watch, and maybe it's true because of how defensive-minded they are, but at the end of the day, they are moving on and the Sharks are done.
After seeing the Sharks falter year in year out, culminating in this disaster of a first-round exit, I truly think it is time the Sharks need to look in a new direction. Doug Wilson has done an admirable job of putting together a strong team on paper, but they clearly don't come together on ice. That said, Doug Wilson needs to go, and Todd McLellan should as well. People always argue that it's will over skill, and the Sharks management needs to refocus themselves with that in mind. No more of these pure skill guys like Marleau or Thornton. We need a leader like Jonathan Toews. We need a tough guy like Tomas Holmstrom.
Sorry, this has turned into more a vent, but as a life-long Sharks fan, I realize when things have gone sour, and now is that time. The Sharks need to blow it up from the top down and enter a full rebuild around Joe Pavelski, Logan Couture, and Brent Burns. Everyone else should be expendable, in my mind.
Until next year, Sharks fans...it should be one interesting (and disappointingly long) summer. |

That was a disgusting effort. The Sharks are now regretting putting the salaries of Thornton, Marleau and Boyle over the potential of Ehrhoff, Carle and Michalek. McLellan should be fired, Marleau should be dealt after another atrocius series, and Shark fans should finally realize that the window has slammed shut. The Sharks are left without a legitimate prospect system or realistic Cup aspirations; enjoy the offseason everybody. |
